Kohli vs Gambhir: What was the argument? What was the altercation? - Full inside story - IPL 2023

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were involved in heated arguments on few occasions

We have seen cricketers getting involved in heated arguments and exchanging few words with opposition players and sometimes with their teammates as well.

Cricket is a team sport and each player plays his/her part to try and contribute for their team's victory. In trying to do so, the player gets aggressive and try to dominate the opposition players. There are quite a few occassions where players were involved in ugly fights and arguments and umpires or fellow teammates had to intervene.

One such incidence happened during last night after the completion of RCB vs LSG match. Pictures suggested that Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were involved in an aggressive argument for some reason. Well, these two have a history between them from IPL 2013 where Gambhir gave an ugly send-off to Kohli when latter was dismissed. Rajat Bhatia had to intervene at that time and calm down the situation.

Gambhir silencing the Chinnaswamy crowds after LSG beat RCB last time

Yesterday, as per what we saw throughout the match, the intensity was high ever since the previous match between these two teams where LSG beat RCB and Gambhir gestured RCB crowd to remain silent. That was a kind of aggressive gesture from someone as Gautam Gambhir's calibre.

This ignited some aggression from his ex-teammate in Delhi team, Virat Kohli. Yesterday while Kohli took a catch near the boundary line he also gestured the same way as Gambhir did earlier. However, Kohli also signalled "not to do this" later in the match suggesting to not be aggressive and enjoy the match.

Kohli exchanging words with Kyle Mayers and Naveen-Ul-Haq

There were also a few words exchanged between Virat Kohli and Amit Mishra when the latter was batting towards the end of the innings. In the end, RCB won the low scoring thriller by 18 runs and Du Plessis was adjudged the player of the match for his 44 off 40 balls on a very slow pitch. The victory of RCB and the celebration didn't go down well with the LSG players and fans. Firstly Naveen-Ul-Haq was seen pushing Kohli and them few of the other players of LSG including Coach Gambhir, Amit Mishra and Kyle Mayers were also seen exchanging words with Kohli. On the other end Faf Du Plessis and other players of RCB tried to calm down Kohli. In the end, assistant coach of LSG, Vijay Dahiya intervened and suggested Kohli and Gambhir to stop all the drama and then the matter was sorted out finally.

So as we saw, sometimes in high profile games players tend to loose the temper and indulge in fights and attract the controversy. There are other players like MS Dhoni who stay away from such dramas and be always calm regardless of their team is winning or loosing.

Thanks

Rahul
